BT Panorama
Mission
Consolidate several finance and wealth management platforms into one simple and easy-to-use platform experience that supports the unique needs of multiple end users for managing majority of Australian's wealth.
This new wealth management system is to consolidate the features and capabilities of several legacy systems of Westpac & BT Financial Group, provide a seamless and consistent experience for various types of users’ needs, and across the sophisticated functionality needs of wealth management.
Approach
Design workshop & team collaborations
Collaborated with team members in fun and collaborative design workshop in regular basis. In this picture, we were doing a cart sorting exercise, to help us decide on our feature sets for each of the streams that we are going to design for.
Agile development
Adapted Agile methodology while working with UX and Visual Designers, Frontend Developers, Project Managers and Scrum Masters. We had regular ideation workshops, worked in sprints/cycles, divided the project into appropriate work streams, and practiced daily scrums, used physical Kanban board to track progress and allow team members to pick up tasks from backlog.
Defined and designed interaction pattern library, share design conventions, wire-framing, prototyping and iterate.
Usability testing was conducted throughout the project to ensure user value and engagement were maximised.
Design wall
Consistencies and update frequencies in the user experience and interface was one of the challenges in the process, due to the scale of the platform, as well as the size of our team. The print outs of our work acts as a notice board for design updates and changes, the KanBan board works efficiently with our stand-ups, to inform designers & developers from each of the streams without having to host formal meetings. We also use the wall to connect screens across devices to help us bring our work together through quick mapping exercise.
Design system / interaction and interface pattern library
To maintain the consistent user experience across the platform, our team constructed a design system, which is a interaction component library, to keep our work consistent across the entire desktop application design for each of our unique type of user group. The library served as a design toolkit for interaction and visual designers, and being a reference for front-end development team, it helped us being efficient and accurate in our deliverables, also eliminated discussions around consistency and design conventions to be used.
The component library saved our team lots of time so that our discussions could be focused on use cases, considerations of user experience and design decisions.
